My studio looks like a fabric bomb has exploded. I am working on too many projects at once. I finished up three quick quilts– and haven't cleared away the fabrics. I've been experimenting on a test piece of fabric on my long arm machine, trying to drum up enough courage to quilt Bloodroot. I have every type and color of thread I own piled all over. And that's a considerable amount of thread.
In the midst of all this, I decided I needed to make a birthday shirt for grandson, Ellis. He's going to be one year old on February 25. I found the perfect color of blue shirt to match his blue eyes at Kids Gap.
I cut and fused the fabric to the shirt. I probably should have backed the fabric with a soft stabilizer but I was in a serious time crunch. Ellis is growing by leaps and bounds so I don't think the shirt will have to last through too many washings.
I added his name to the back of the shirt. The photos aren't showing the true colors, unfortunately.
I stitched around the appliqué with a tiny zigzag stitch. A quick and fun project for a cute little guy!
