I spent the day with a great group of ladies in Chestertown, Maryland, teaching my workshop, Quilting in Layers. Nancycog was kind enough to send me this photo of her quilt. I love it! She used a silver, metallic fabric for some of her center squares and that streak of blue in the leaves pulls the composition together. Beautiful!
Here’s Cissy enjoying a day out with friends. I knew right away I was going to have a good time with quilters from the Olde Kent Guild. Several admitted that they often experience “lint lung” at quilting retreats and have found red wine to be quite effective for easing symptoms. These are my people!
Mary, hard at work. She wasn’t afraid to try some different combinations with variegated thread colors. I really love to see the choices quilters make and I am always surprised and inspired. When I got home from the workshop, I just wanted to sew! Well, and put my feet up and have a glass of wine…
My good friend Christine, always a rebel! She is using the Quilting in Layers technique but making a table runner. Or it might grow into a quilt, you never know because she is very creative and designs on the fly. I can’t wait to see how her project evolves.
Here is Christine again, holding her birthday present from our friend, Kelly. http://pinkadotquilts.blogspot.com/. I’m so lucky to have friends that make quilts for birthday presents and friends that invite you to their homes for sewing overnights. Several of the Quiltini’s stayed at Christine’s and we all agreed, watching Downton Abby with girlfriends is much more fun than with husbands!
Thank you Christine and to the ladies of Olde Kent Guild. Quilters are the best !
